Presentation

Merion’s East Course was designed by Scottish immigrant Hugh Wilson in 1912. The East Course has played host to more USGA Championships than any other course in America.
The West Course opened in May 1914. Merion is a National Historic Landmark and has hosted 16 USGA events up to the US Open in 2013.
The course is home to some of golf’s greatest moments, including Ben Hogan’s famous one-iron on the 72nd hole of the 1950 U. S.
Open and Robert Tyre Jones’s Grand Slam win in the 1930s. The club was established in 1896 by members of the Merion Cricket Club in Haverford, Pennsylvania, but did not officially separate from the club until 1941.
It is one of the most exclusive golf clubs in the United States, with only a handful of other courses in the same region. It has hosted the US Amateur and US Open since 2005, as well as the PGA Championship in 2007 and 2010, and the Masters in 2010.
