Presentation
Rye Golf Club is a private members club in East Sussex. The club consists of two courses, the Old and Jubilee.
The courses are beautiful examples of traditional links, on the south coast of England. The Old Course at Rye offers a living history of English golf, embodying as it does all the finer points of play by the ocean.
The iconic red roof and plastered walls of the clubhouse sum up the club’s charms, which at first seem modest but become increasingly more endearing. There is something here for every golfer, and the course is definitely worth repeated visits.
The first competition took place in 1894. H.
S. Colt, was elected as the first Captain and he designed 18 holes in 1895, which became the permanent course.
The 1st starts things off with an obscured shot from the tee. Every hole has its own special allure and defense, but the shorter holes are what really make the Old Course stand out.
The 4th plays through a crosswind to a narrow, deeply banked fairway.
