The Australian Golf Club

The Australian Golf Club is a private Member’s Club located 6km from the heart of the Sydney CBD. Inaugurated in 1882, it holds the honor of being the oldest golf club in the Commonwealth.

Members enjoy the highest level of benefits including access to one of Australia’s finest courses and Clubhouse. The current layout, featuring moderated undulations and water hazards was redesigned by Jack Nicklaus in 1977, following an approach to the club by Kerry Packer.

The prize fund for the 2014 Australian Open is $1. 2 million, with the majority of the proceeds going to the Australian Institute of Sport, which is based in Sydney.
