Overview

The Country Club was established in 1882 as an equestrian and social club and golf was not introduced until 1893. It is one of the founding clubs of the United States Golf Association and is a major supporter of amateur level golf.
In 1999 it hosted a memorable edition of the Ryder Cup which was won by Team USA (14,5-13,5) The Country Club has a total of 27 holes, divided between two courses. The Main Course consists of the Clyde and Squirrel loops which are the original 18 holes.
There are 9 more holes which make the Primrose Course, an executive course built in 1927. There is also a Championship Course, which is used for major tournaments, when a longer layout is required.
For the 2022 US Open, the Championship Course will be a little different from the course that was used in other championships, with the par-4 fourth hole of the main course removed and the par 3 12th hole added, resulting in a par-3 of 131 yards.
