Overview

Kiawah Island Golf Resort is the ideal destination for luxury golf and beach vacations near Charleston, South Carolina. Stay in Five-Star accommodations, make use of the award-winning recreational activities and play some of the most respected golf courses in the nation.
The front nine features tight fairways lined with bunkering; the back offers more of a links-like experience with ample fairways and greens defended by more bunkers. The most memorable hole is the watery par 3 17th.
The layout is not really walkable owing to the distances between the clubhouse and the 1st and between the two nines, though renovations in the early 2000s made it so that the 18th winds up at the clubhouse. When planning a trip here be sure to allow for the considerable time it takes to get to the clubhouse from the entry gate.
Some will recall the 1991 Ryder Cup here, when no one was immune to the incessant breezes. The stunning seaside vistas help to distract most players from the punishment that Dye’s design metes out.
