Overview
Blair Atholl Golf Course is the longest course designed in South Africa. The course length is in excess of 7700m from the back tees.
The design has the course playing as a single loop, with halfway house set over the Crocodile River after the 8th hole. All holes (bar the 18th and 1st) have no parallel holes running alongside, making the experience unique for the golfer.
Each hole is distinct and perfectly suited to the terrain in which it was built. One of the standouts is a fantastic recreation of Augusta’s famous 12th.
The golf course was designed by South African golfer Gary Player in the 80s and 90s. It takes its name from the Scottish Dukes of Atholl, who had an estate on this site near Johannesburg.
The property was purchased by the Douglas family just after World War II, and the king the next year visited the grounds and planted an English oak there. It was later bought by Gary Player, who set up his quarter horse operation and a first-class golf course.
