Overview
The National Golf Centre at Woodhall Spa is the Home of English Golf. The Hotchkin Course is consistently rated among the world’s finest heathland golf experiences.
The Bracken Course is ranked in Golf World magazine’s World Top 100 Golf Courses. The Spa is a kind of neo-Victorian/Edwardian resort that features residences set amid stands of evergreens and birch.
In contrast with many of the other courses in the region, the Hotchkins is an authentic heathlands location, with sufficient space for competitive play. The constrained fairways and diminutive greens add considerably to the challenge.
The 12th hole, which is essentially just a wedge, is one of the best short holes on the course. The course was designed by Harry S.
Colt in the early 1900s. The grounds were bequeathed to the English Golf Union to serve as an administrative and educational center, with the result that Woodhall spa is today a true golf preserve.
